Lowest Prices for Cars

new car deals

Review by John White

The economy is in ruins.  The auto industry is in shambles.  The recession continues to cripple the country.  So what do you do if you need a new car, but need to save some bucks in order to recession-proof your savings?  Look to the Interweb, bud.  Dealers are scrambling to make sales, and the World Wide Web is the vehicle they’re using to help move their inventory.  Now is probably the best time in recent history to snag a great deal on a new ride…

Why Buying a Car Now is a Good Idea

To help boost car sales, the Obama administration announced that it is expanding a tax break on new car sales to six states that don’t have sales taxes.

Obama’s economic stimulus package enacted this February makes both state and local sales and excise taxes on new vehicles that are purchased this year tax deductible. For States that don’t have sales tax, the Obama administration has extended the new law to include certain fees charged to new car buyers. These states are Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon.

The bottom line is that you’ll get a fatty refund for any new car you purchase this year, on your next tax return.  Record low prices for Cars + Tax Incentives = Good Time to Buy.

Question:
How Do I Get the Lowest Price on My Next Car?
Answer:  Compile a List of Free Online Price Quotes, Then Ask for a Better Deal.

How to Get the Lowest Price Quotes for Your Next Car

I’ve compiled a short list of the best websites to not only help you research your next car, but also provide you with the the absolute lowest price quotes from sales-hungry dealers around the country.  This is a NO BULL-SH*T list, that will help you cut to the chase, and get you behind the wheel of a sweet ride for thousands less than you’d expect by visiting a traditional automobile showroom.  Visit each site below, and get a FREE, no obligation price quote from each.  Compare prices, and ask the 2nd cheapest dealer if they’ll beat the cheapest quote.

Helpful Tip: Consider creating an email address specifically for gathering quotes.  You’re likely to get follow-up emails from dealers from time to time that may be annoying if they come in on your real, primary email address.

#1 – Yahoo! Autos

yahooautosYahoo! has been around forever, and is as old as the internet.  At one point in time, Yahoo! was the hottest destination on the ‘net, and as such, established itself as the best directory and research tool for everything from school loans to business services to automobile info and price quotes.  The information on Yahoo! Autos is among the most extensive of Auto research and price quote sites.  Yahoo is truly a one-stop-shop, and is a great place to start.   The information is complete, the price quotes are fast, free, and hassle-free, and there is no SPAM coming to your inbox after requesting a quote. You’ll probably be tempted to end your quest for the lowest price on your car here, but don’t.  The next listings below also offer some pleasant surprises.

#2 – Automotive.com

automotive.comAutomotive.com is a hell of a site because it will not only help you find the lowest price on the car you’re looking for (new and used), but you’ll also find the best financing and auto loan deals through their extensive portal.  Automotive.com has been around since 1996, and has grown in to one of the Internet’s premier auto buying portals and consumer research and information websites. Automotive.com claims that they have helped more than 50,000,000 people research and price new cars, used cars, obtain financing and insurance leading to more than a million vehicle sales.  Their approach is to unite the new and used car buyer with local new and used car dealers, large dealer groups, and even directly with the automobile manufacturer to improve and streamline the way consumers research, locate and buy new and used cars.  The one drawback to Automotive.com is that the website/portal is cluttered and more difficult to navigate that Yahoo! Autos.  If you can get used to the layout, and have a little bit of patience, you’ll find that Automotive.com not only provides excellent research tools, but also delivers incredible price quotes within seconds.

#3 – CarTalking.com

cartalking.comCarTalking.com is a GREAT website.  The layout is very similar to Automotive.com, but is a little cleaner and easier to navigate.  CarTalking.com is an up-and-coming portal, and is quickly gaining momentum as one of the better research and quote destinations on the web.  I would rate CarTalking.com above Automotive.com if the site featured more in-depth reviews and a more extensive dealer network.  As it stands now, Automotive.com is a little more resource-rich, but CarTalking.com is on their heels.  One unique feature CarTalking.com offers its visitors is a car discussion forum, however the drawback is that the forum is relatively new, and the discussion threads are a sparse.  I got very competitive price quotes when testing CarTalking.com, and it is absolutely worth a visit.
